3rd Stakeholders' Workshop within the Commission's Cross-Border Review
Hotel Le Plaza, Brussels, 27th September 2016
The Commission's Cross-Border Review progresses with the identification of more than two hundred border obstacles, and the concentration in fifteen case studies on health, labour, urban transport, rescue services, etc. This 3rd DG Regio’s workshop with the stakeholders, including several border regions, the AEBR, the MOT, CESCI, the Euro-Institut (TEIN), the Centre for Cross-Border Studies, RIET and other players (and a growing participation of other Commission’s departments, namely Santé, Connect, Empl, EAC, Move, Just, Grow and Echo) came just a few days after the AEBR Annual Conference 2016 in the Euroregion Neiße-Nisa-Nysa (DE-CZ-PL), which also tackled Border Obstacles in its second session (in Liberec). The workshop analysed five concrete cases:
- Commuters on the DK-SE border (DK-SE)
- Recognition of qualifications on the ES-PT border
- Access to health care on the LV-EE border
- Public transport across the DE-FR border
- Emergency and rescue services on the HU-SK border
The afternoon session concentrated in finding horizontal conclusions and recommendations on possible solutions to main cross-border obstacles. Collected information will be incorporated to the Cross-Border Review, which aims to concentrate on raising awareness, collecting evidence and promoting a good governance of CBC. Civil society and social partners must be involved, and Border Ambassadors have been proposed.
