AEBR co-organized the seminar "Inclusive Security in Jerusalem - The Role of Palestinian and Israeli Women" (7-8 March 2017) :
The Director General of External Action of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Rosa Balas, and the Secretary General of the Association of European Border Regions, Martín Guillermo, opened the seminar Inclusive Security in Jerusalem in this city of Near East. The main objective of this event was to strengthen the role of Israeli and Palestinian women in the achievement of peace on that territory and to promote their cooperation in a post-conflict context, according to the United Nations resolution which advocates for gender perspective in peace processes.
This initiative has been promoted by the Agency for International Cooperation and Development of Extremadura and the Association of European Border Regions. In its organization also participated the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the International Peace and Cooperation Center from Palestine. More than half hundred people, mainly Palestinian, Israeli and European women, attended the seminar. Among them, there were journalists, local leaders, representatives of civil society and artists. The Association of European Border Region made possible the participation in the event of European experts as well as women from former territories in conflict likes the Balkans.
This is not the first event co-organized by the Association of European Border Region in Jerusalem in the recent years. With the Inclusive Security in Jerusalem seminar, the Association and the Government of Extremadura seek to consolidate the analysis of a possible solution to the conflict and provide European experiences which could be useful for women who are suffering it. The Agency for International Cooperation and Development of Extremadura and the Association of European Border Regions are also supporting the creation of a platform for dissemination of good practices in the field of cross-border cooperation.
