AEBR Executive Committee meeting on 14 July 2017 at the House of the Dutch Provinces

Around 40 representatives of border/cross-border regions from all across Europe met at the House of the Dutch Provinces in Brussels to discuss aspects affecting cross-border cooperation. The Secretary General Martín Guillermo Ramírez presented updated information about the recent news on the Commission’s Review, additional proposals to solve CB obstacles, implementation of programmes, decentralisation of Interreg programmes, People-to-People projects and Small Projects Funds; the EGTCs Report 2016; Meetings of the EU bodies on CBC (CoR’s Intergroup and Parliament’s Informal Working Group).

With regard to Cross-Border Perspectives: President Juncker’s White Paper on the Future of Europe and Future Cohesion Policy, the ghost of scenario 4 "Doing Less More Efficiently"; the 7th Cohesion Forum, the 7th Cohesion Report and the Mid-Term Review of the EU Multiannual Financial Framework; other EU and international elements affecting Cohesion.

In addition, the following topics of interest for CBC where discussed as well: CB Social Security and other labour related issues, Mobility, and CB Languages. The growing activities of the Berlin AEBR Office in the scope of the Interreg Volunteers Youth initiative were presented. The AEBR Task Forces gave short reports about their past and planned activities. 

The next meeting of the AEBR Advisory Committee will take place on 26 October 2017 in Badajoz/Extremadura, Spain.
