Veranstaltungsort: Committee of the Regions, Rue Belliard 99-101, Room JDE 53

Anna Winkler, AEBR Projects and Finances Officer

Start of the meeting: 10.00h-12.30h
Leader of this Worhshop: Mr. Peter Hansen (
Venue: Committee of the Regions, Rue Belliard 99-101, Room JDE 53.

The AEBR and its members have been engaged in labour market issues for longer time already. Due to the complexity of the issue and the different needs, a Task Force shall try to elaborate a basis for future political demands and to identify partners for common projects.

A mapping of specific subjects have been elaborated and should be used as an overview on the occasion of the meeting in Brussels on 12th November (see also attached).

The activities of the Task Force could focus on the unemployment of young people, the extent of which is very different in Europe. In the framework of the orientation towards more growth and employment proclaimed by the EU Commission, the activities related to this are adequate even and especially if they refer to different political areas.

Among others, the advantages of the dual educational system in Germany could be demonstrated and practical solutions for the adaptation could be examined. There are good examples, which could be collected and evaluated. The acknowledgement of diploma and partial qualifications could be another interesting issue.

Therefore, on the occasion of the first meeting an exchange of opinions and ideas should take place:
1. which political emphasis (related to labour market) should be included in the work of the AEBR,
2. which border regions could provide good examples,
3. which partners are possible for a project participation and
4. further concrete approaches for project work.

Proposed agenda
1. Welcome speech, short tour of introductions
2. Presentation of the range of topics (Annex)
3. Present work of the AEBR on the field of the labour market
4. Required political focus
5. Project initiatives
6. Further proceeding, time table
7. Miscellaneous

The working language is ENGLISH.
