The ”Cross-Border Metropolitan Regions“ Initiative (IMeG), the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS) and the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) are organising the European Conference ”Metropolitan border regions in Europe“ on 19th and 20th November 2012 in cooperation with the Luxembourg Spatial Planning Department.

The aim of the conference is to initiate or to intensify the exchange between metropolitan border regions in Europe. Focus is placed on the metropolitan border regions, their importance and their contribution towards territorial cohesion in Europe. Success factors for cross-border governance and spatial development in metropolitan border regions are to be highlighted in lectures and panel discussions.

On the evening before the conference, on 19th November 2012, political representatives of Luxembourg, representatives of the Luxembourg Spatial Planning Department and of the IMeG partnership will be discussing these topics. On the day of the conference, the focus will be on expert exchanges with representatives of other European border regions.

The conference will be translated simultaneously (German, English, French).
