Committee of the Regions of the EU (CoR) launched study on "Multilevel governance of our natural capital". :

The Committee of the Regions of the EU (CoR) has launched a study on "Multilevel governance of our natural capital". The CoR cooperates with the European Commission, DG Environment, and UNEP on the study and has commissioned it to Ecologic Institute and ICLEI.

The study aims to...
-  determine which efforts have been made by national administrations to support and cooperate with local and regional authorities on biodiversity actions; and
-  identify positive examples of actions being taken on a local/regional level;
… that contribute to the EU Biodiversity Strategy and Aichi biodiversity targets.

The CoR invites to participate in an online survey which serves to support these goals. You will find the survey and more information about the study under the following links:

We would appreciate if you could fill in your responses by 15 March 2014.  Your answers received will feed into the recommendations and best practices presentations of the study. The study report will be publicly available by July 2014.

The study and a related CoR Opinion, which has been requested from the European Commission, will inform the European Commission's mid-term review of the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020, and the EU's reporting on the CBD Decision X/22'Plan of Action on Subnational Governments, Cities and Other Local Authorities for Biodiversity (2011-2020)'.

If you have questions about the content or functioning of the questionnaire, please contact Carsten Brauns from the CoR Secretariat (carsten.brauns@cor.europa.eu), or McKenna Davis (mckenna.davis@ecologic.eu) or Holger Gerdes (holger.gerdes@ecologic.eu) at Ecologic Institute.
