REVISION OF THE EIA DIRECTIVE - a stakeholders' consultation organised by the CoR

Lieu de la manifestation: Brussels, CoR premises

The Committee of the Regions is drafting an opinion on "Revision of the EIA Directive" following a Proposal of the European Commission for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment, COM(2012) 628 final - 2012/0297 (COD).

Local and regional authorities, as represented by the CoR, are key actors within the EIA Directive, both in their regular role as competent authorities, and as developers. This is why the CoR believes their concerns should be actively taken on board by the European Parliament and the Council.

In this context, the Rapporteur on the Opinion, Mr Marek SOWA (PL/EPP), Member of the ENVE Commission of the CoR and Marshal of Małopolska Voivodship, together with his expert Professor Janusz Mikuła would be happy to meet with representatives of local and regional associations and other stakeholders for a consultation and an exchange of views in the preparation of this opinion.

The consultation will take place on:

Monday 18 February, 15:30 – 17:30
At the premises of the Committee of the Regions
(Rue Belliard 99-101, B-1040 Brussels)
Room JDE 53

In addition, if your Region or Association has any position papers relevant to the subject, you are welcome to send them by e-mail to the addresses below.
