Local Authorities from Northern Ireland (Newry and Mourne) and the Republic of Ireland (Louth) will host a seminar exploring the development of successful cross border partnerships.

The seminar will focus on best practice and lessons learned in the development of effective cross border partnerships that maximise the benefits to the citizen of EU funding.

The European Commission will be represented by Colin Wolfe, Head of Unit for European Transnational and Interregional Cooperation, DG Regio.

The seminar will conclude with the formalising of a 'shared services' Partnership between Newry, Mourne and Louth, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by the Mayors of the participating Local Authorities.

The Memorandum of Understanding is a unique strategic alliance which will both consolidate and enchance relationships established through partnership delivery of PEACE and INTERREG programmes. It will further commit the parties to support and promote the economic development, competitiveness and social cohesion of this cross border region.

The seminar will be followed by a sandwich lunch.
