AEBR and MOT release policy publication and compendium of Resilient Borders

17 July 2026

AEBR and MOT successfully completed the Resilient Borders project and have now issued a publication with informative content about the 19 pilot cases developed in this framework.

With the policy publication and compendium, AEBR and MOT contribute to building relevant knowledge in the fields of cross-border spatial planning and resilience. Crucially, the report includes:

  • lessons learned to build resilience in border regions,
  • recommendations that can facilitate the uptake of joint initiatives reinforcing resilience and special planning in cross-border regions, and
  • useful insights into the experience of the selected pilot actions.

The content is based on the work of the participants in the action, who have set up innovative actions plans during a period of eight months, collaborating across national borders to initiate or strengthen cooperation with the neighbouring relevant authorities. The pilot actions received a budget of up to 40,000 Euros from the European Commission and have used these resources to improve knowledge of the cross-border region and its actors, secure engagement and elaborate operational strategies for preparedness.

AEBR and MOT thank the participants for their commitment to making border regions more secure and resilient, and wish to make their efforts an example for other border regions thanks to this publication.
