AEBR youth forum 2020

From the 31st August to the 2nd September the II Youth Innovation Forum was organized by Drama Chamber of Commerce, Euroregion Nestos-Mesta and Association of European Border Regions. This year topic was focusing on building a stronger knowledge in agricultural technological innovation in cross border areas and was implemented through the online discussion forum, online case studies and online workshops.

Welcoming speeches were delivered by Mr Stefanos Georgiadis, President of Drama Chamber of Commerce and Mr Martin Guillermo Ramirez, Secretary-general of AEBR. Mr Johannes Moisio, Chairman AEBR TFEB, gave an introduction into the Youth Forum after whom Ms Io Chatzivaryti, EU Programmes’ advisor to the Drama Chamber of Commerece, presented the Interreg Greece-Bulgaria cross border project “Environmental Management Enhancement by Youth-run SME”. The presentations led to the fruitful discussion on how the Drama Chamber of Commerce and AEBR are supporting the young people on their way to becoming entrepreneurs, and how they can get involved in Interreg Voluntary Youth initiative.

The first day of the youth forum was finessed with young people expression of expectations of the Youth Forum.


The second day of the Youth forum started with interaction with young participants on what is necessary for innovation.

Afterwards, the thee best practices were presented each leading to the interesting questions from the participants and their interaction with the participants. The best practices that were presented are:

  1. Organic Farming: Trends, Innovations and Best Practices, K. Karampatea, International  Hellenic University
  2. The FHL Marble Factory Innovation in marbles extraction and marble sculpting using robotics technology, M. Kalogeraki.
  3. Agricultural social innovation in Bulgaria at the Cross Border Area, Prof. Ivan Penov, University of Plovdiv

The second day was closed with the discussion on what is the best about being an entrepreneur.

The third day of the Youth Forum started with the discussion on the main challenges in cross-border businesses.

Then the participants were divided into two groups where they were working together on finding the answers on the following questions: What can be considerate as innovation /technological innovation?; What is necessary for cross border cooperation?; The main border region problems?; Why to cooperate across the borders in business?; and Cross border solution in overcoming obstacles in agribusiness? At the end of the workshop each group presented their work and their ideas on overcoming the cross-border obstacles in agribusiness. The summary of their work you can see on the carts below.

Before closing remarks coming from Mr Johannes Moisio, Chairman of TFEB, young people had the opportunity to express their impressions from the 3 days of the Youth Innovation Forum.
