EU Territorial Agenda 2030

The renewed EU Territorial Agenda 2030 builds on the following:

On 1 December 2020, the EU Territorial Agenda 2030 was adopted during an Informal Ministerial Meeting on Territorial Cohesion under the German Presidency of the Council of the EU. With a strong input to the participation of local and regional authorities, the Territorial Agenda 2030 promotes multi-level governance and subsidiarity.

AEBR welcomes the updated Agenda and President Karl-Heinz Lambertz had the chance to intervene and draw the attention of the ministries on border regions and cross-border cooperation.

The implementation of the TA2030 has started during the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2021. AEBR attended the online meeting of the Network of Territorial Cohesion Contact Points (NTCCP) on 23 March 2021.

AEBR also takes part in the Pilot Action CB Spatial Planning: A vision for a zero-carbon CB functional region, led by the Government of Luxemburg and based on the process Luxembourg in Transition (LIT) process. The kick-off meeting of this Pilot Action took place on 26 March 2021, and the first thematic meeting on 7 May, dealing with the organization of LIT and the presentation of its first results.

Dr Robert Wealer, from the Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning, presented the context of spatial planning in Luxembourg and the Greater Region, as well as the setup of a consultation, the selection procedure, and the scientific support by Dr Panos Mantziaras (Braillard Architectes Foundation) and Dr Roselyne de Lestrange (Université Catholique de Louvain & Metrolab.Brussels), who offered an insight into the entire assessment and selection procedure and how the work with the teams of the consultation is managed. They also presented a selection of results from 10 working teams.
