AEBR is implementing in 2021 the last activities on cross-border cooperation in the border Colombia – Ecuador, supported by the Regional Government of Extremadura (Spain). European experts selected by the Association are training local and national authorities in cross-border projects management, strategies design and gender approach in cross-border planning. Furthermore, AEBR supported local authorities in drafting a project on cross-border management of a shared natural area. The Association is also collaborating with Foreign Affairs Ministries of both countries in including border needs in the priorities of international donors that are funding initiatives in Andean countries.
In March AEBR closes the 2020-2021 cooperation programme with the Binational Authority of the Titicaca Lake (border Bolivia-Peru). Several online workshops were organized, as the closing one, Cross-Border Value Chains, which took place on 4 March 2021 attended by local, national and bi-national authorities.
Under the framework of the collaboration agreement signed by AEBR and the EUROsociAL programme, AEBR will organize with the support of the Complutense University of Madrid the Bi-regional Forum: Cross-Border Multi-level Governance to Face the COVID19 Crisis: Health, Economic and Social Challenges for Europe and Latin America. Funded by the European Union, the forum will be held in May (date yet to be confirmed).
AEBR is also collaborating with the Committee for the Management of the Uruguay River Basin hiring European and Latin American expert to share the experience of cross-border management of national parks and other natural areas.Back to overview
